To be a Taoist means many things to many people. To be a practitioner of Contemporary Taoism simply means to have realised that we are all minute parts of an indescribably large Whole (the Tao), and to choose therefore to 'Flow Like Water' and live in a spontaneous, natural manner. This blog is about: Personal Growth / Spiritual Development as guided by the principles of Eastern Philosophy, particularly modern philosophical Taoism; Developing constructive habits and achieving success with minimal effort; Meditation - Taoist, Zen or otherwise. See 'What In Lao Tzu's Name is a Contemporary Taoist?'

Maybe this will - happen. Or maybe the powers that be will 'use technology to impose totalitarian order on society'. Unfortunately my money is on the latter.

The Meaning of Life - Part II

The Meaning of Life - Part II: "Trying to speak about the ultimate reality is like sending a kiss through a messenger.

The Meaning of Life

Reality is in fact neither good nor bad, it is a very plastic inkblot sort of thing that can be bent and twisted in many directions depending on your beliefs. WHAT! you say? What about THE TRUTH? Well, that's a complicated question and it gets into the meaning of life bit that we haven't gotten to yet, but suffice it to say that what is REALLY going on is so strange, so complex, and so far beyond our everyday understanding, that it bears no relationship to what you think of as "reality", "truth", or "reason".

The Emerald Tablets of Thoth

The Emerald Tablets of Thoth

ok ok I know - you came here looking for wacky Chinese philosphy right? Not wacky western philosphy - but at the moment I am doing a lot of research into Alchemy and Hermetic western traditions (for my own purposes, which are for the moment a secret, suitably enough) so you might as well go along with the ride - huh?

There are a lot of similarities between the two alchemic/spiritual traditions, i.e. of the east and of the hermetic west, and without actually starting to believe in kooky new age shite about aliens and whatnot (probably more of a Jung archetype thing, to keep it real) - I do find these similarities fascinating.
